On October 23, 2003, Apple, Inc. replaced iBook G3 with iBook G4 by replacing PowerPC G3 chip with PowerPC G4 chip, changing the color from bright to white and making provision for slot-loading optical drives. Also a lifting type keyboard was provided for allowing installation of the AirPort (wireless) card and additional memory and thus improving its performance if situation warranted that. The only flaw that still left it as intrigued as iBook G3 was accessing the hard disk drive that tested all your patience and skills. Still, overall, it was very many steps ahead its predecessor as far as both, the maintenance and the performance, were concerned.
