The year 1998 saw the release of the first PowerBook G3 series, which was a modified version of the 500 series PowerBook, with a new look and feel altogether. The look and feel was so revolutionary that it started getting shot in the most popular TV series as personal belonging of the characters. Again, later in 1998 only, the second model named "PDQ" hit the market, with inclusion of more facilities as configuration options, especially the inclusion of L2 cache in the lowest-priced 233 MHz model!
Prior to this in 1997 the first Macintosh PowerBook G3, codenamed "Kanga" had already hit the market. And when it did, it was boastfully advertised as the fastest notebook of the time. This model was a modification on the PowerBook 3400, and hence people started calling it the PowerBook 3500.
